Carlo Giorgio Domenico Enrico Catani, civil engineer, migrated from Italy to Melbourne in 1876, and joined the Dept. of Lands and Survey. Some of the works under his direction were the draining of the Koo-Wee-Rup swamp, improving the River Yarra, the laying out and planning of the Alexandra Gardens, and the reclamation of the foreshore of St. Kilda. He died at St Kilda 1918 July 20, and is buried at Brighton cemetary. From the description of Article on Carlo G.D.E. Catani. [not after...
